DESU — Data Extraction & Storage Unit
A gateway that collects data from field devices over a range of communication buses and forwards it to a SCADA server over a LAN or a cellular connection, acting as the layer between on-field equipment and the utility’s software platform.

DESU sits between field devices and the SCADA platform. It gathers data from the equipment on site and delivers it upstream, so field data reaches operations systems reliably.
