AmbiPower UDR App
A mobile app that reads meters through the meter’s optical port and sends the readings to the utility’s billing servers. It can store readings on the device and upload them later, so a constant data connection is not required at the meter.
Where it fits
The app runs on a standard mobile device carried by a meter reader. It reads the meter over the optical port and delivers the data to the utility’s billing system, replacing manual transcription of readings.
What it does
- Reads meters over the optical port from a standard mobile device
- Works with single-phase and three-phase meters
- Stores readings on the device and uploads them when connectivity is available
- Replaces paper-based meter reading
How it works
- The reader signs in on their mobile device.
- The device connects to the meter’s optical port.
- The required readings are captured from the meter.
- Readings are stored on the device and uploaded to the billing server when a connection is available.
Typical use cases
- Walk-route meter reading without fixed communications at the meter
- Reading in areas with intermittent mobile coverage
- Removing manual transcription errors from the billing feed
