30-day power utility meter data pilot
AmbiPower ran a 30-day pilot with a power utility. More than 50 Secure-make single-phase and three-phase meters were read with the AmbiPower UDR App, and the captured meter data was shared with the utility.
Context
The pilot was run with a power utility and involved more than 50 single-phase and three-phase meters made by Secure. The utility is not named.
What AmbiPower did
AmbiPower used the AmbiPower UDR App to capture data from the meters and share it with the utility. The UDR App is AmbiPower’s mobile meter-reading app: it reads a meter through the meter’s optical port from a mobile device.
Scope
- Customer: A power utility (not named)
- Duration: 30 days
- Meters: More than 50
- Meter make: Secure (meter manufacturer)
- Meter types: Single-phase and three-phase
- Tool used: AmbiPower UDR App, on a mobile device
Meter data captured and shared
- Alarms
- Instantaneous measurements
- Billing information
- Maximum demand
Outcome
Over the 30 days, meter data in these categories was captured with the UDR App and shared with the utility.
This was a pilot, not a production rollout. It is published as evidence of what the UDR App was used to capture; no reading counts, success rates, or billing, revenue or loss effects are claimed from it.
Where it fits
Mobile reading with the UDR App is one of the two ways AmbiPower supports Advanced Meter Reading (AMR → AMI); the other is the cellular Retrofit Module.
